Building and Grounds Committee Information
The Building & Grounds Committee works to insure the facilities of the Church meet the needs of its members. These facilities include the Church grounds, the exterior & interior of the Church, the mechanical systems of the church, and major items of furniture. Items of a specialized nature are sometimes managed by a committee that has the required expertise (e.g., the Technology Committee manages our computers) or most directly benefits from the item.
We generally meet the first Sunday of every month at Noon (please contact the committee chair for confirmation), but we welcome input anytime from Church members as to needs they observe. This input can come in the form of a phone call, an email, a note in our folder in the Administrator's office, or simply a conversation after Sunday Service.
New members to the Committee are always welcome. We always try to 'divvy up' the projects so that each Committee member is working on something they have some personal interest in / enthusiasm for. Sometimes that is just offering a reasoned opinion on a project that involves a major expenditure of funds.
And of course if you are not ready to become a member of the Committee, but would like to tackle a specific project, just let us know about your idea.
For instance we can always use more help on maintaining the grounds, or just point to the wall you would like to see a fresh coat of pant applied to. We will work with you to get a plan (don't worry, we keep things very simple) and budget approved, and then assist you as requested.
We maintain a list of past projects and future plans available on request.
A sampling of the items we are looking at (subject to budget & priorities) include
repairs to church signage, repainting the exterior of the church, and landscaping enhancements. Since June 2006 major projects accomplished: sealed and remarked the parking lot, made major repairs to the north A/C unit, installed new carpeting in the Minister's and Church Administrator's offices, installed digital phone system.
