Peace  Cairn  Completed for Eyes Wide Open

Constructed Saturday, May 22, 2004, the landscaping was completed in June 2006

Although the Peace Cairn was constructed in May 2004, landscaping was not completed until this June in preparation for the Eyes Wide Open Iraq War casualty memorial June 18.

Chris Alberts (Center) planned and directed construction of the cairn as an Eagle Scout project. Calvin Burnside (left) and Darek Jeck (right) assisted with the project. Chris made the plaque (bottom center) to commemorate completion of the project.

The Building & Grounds Committee is looking for ideas for additional plantings around the Cairn to add shade and color. Drought-resistant native species will be used where possible.
